Wet days by the southern lands, even afterwards the waters all becomes dry so fast, the land characteristics, that is clever and show us daily that all us become part of it.
The "boss" playing in Catalan land, even an old friend is updating about it, we are fully aware with the ones who feel with the music of one of the best. Few months ago, after Clarence Clemmons passed to the land where everyone's welcome, the chicken skin that this saxophone produces shakes a bit more than normal, is normal.
How the music and the Vietnamese land are tied, even in opposite way, wars and over, is the prove that was is above all and what is not such important. Althought you, once graduated step over in life, in few years that offer to all us a lot, that make all our skin shakes near you and while you looking at us with these eyes in the day to day, give to us your hand, explains to us how life comes to you, how you feel and what makes your tear come down. We are very proud of you, you know it. A Catalan going upwards.

Arriba la pluja al sud / Rain arrives to the south
Is one of the topics all the Conxinxine residents have once living here, the weather and if the rain arrived and the wet season, here in the south there are the dry and wet seasons only.
It becomes a bit strange but personally do not notice the difference on the four yearly seasons, could be the constant heat or the mind of one who is not born in the land.
The bets, the comments, the knowings, the experiences...all seems to count at the moment of forecasting, the memories of the upward elevator at Santa Eugenia de Ter are present, all so different and similar at the same time, all disasters and retirements far from home, all mistakes near home....world worldwide.
For the visitors, there are different rainy areas in the country, meanwhile in the south from may to september is more humid and with short showers,....later on all is dry again, in the center there are typhoons and floods in august and september, even with flooded villages like Hoi An with boats on the streets. In the north, the rains comes in july to september, even the weather is more humid and there are drops all even out of season...
In middle downtown, in one of the buildings everyone pass by to take a look, the post office building, there are some Catalan inscriptions. The building was designed by Eiffel students, famous tower constructor, also involved in one of the Girona bridges...the world is not so big...

Catalans per Londres / Catalans in London

Entrenaments vitals / Life trainings
After a few days in the Vietnamese capital, the way back to the south, where the rain, the winds and the freshness of the tropical rains transform the city with another smile.
The daily learning of what you are doing, the smiles, the giving hand, the improvement, the development...makes that every day I notice, think and write some lines, this is the future.
The projects and meetings continue, and we keep supporting and joining the team work in the different hotels.

Business issues brought me back to Hanoi a few days to tie some deals. The city is changing day after day and anytime one observes what we see daily in HCMC and what we had before when we were living in the capital.
Old plain staff who now already become decision makers, old time friends after many years without meeting, streets where we were no eating after long time, lakes we saw and now see less...and a row of old houses, buildings that step by step are being lost due to no-protection and constant construction...

Cap al centre hi falta gent / There are people's need at the center
April's Monday, with spring already here, with sweet rains which refreshes and are appreciated by the giant trees of the City of Ho Chi Minh. We go to central Vietnam, where the Cham culture and many others arrives centuries ago being the main deck of Southeast Asia.
Aside of flying to Da Nang and its important museum focused in the Cham culture and its relics, we will visit also Hue, ancient capital of Vietnam, where I am planning to keep an eye to the less visited tombs, old historical relics. As I saw already the most visites, is time to do tribute to the rest of well known emperors of ancient Vietnam.
The third day we will visit the highlands, flying to Buon Me Thuot, one of the main coffee producers from the country, with all minorities that I have not been looking and checked. Their own characteristics, its dances and tradicional celebrations, its clothing, the old prison and cemetery.
Pictures when back, a good field reserach, without doubt.

Visita a Siam i tsunami nipo / Siam's visit and nippon tsunami
After a couple of months without any visit to Siamese land, we came back to step in Bangkok during three days. Recommended visits, out at night and taste of the beloved spices always missed, shows an enjoyment visiting the city, not to far from Ho Chi Minh City.
We found Vietnamese friends, Germans and Philipinos living in Bangkok, and Ta and her friend Pung who kindly showed us the palaca and its crowd, friends from Hong Kong from South America and the peninsula, a good mix to enjoy markets, narrow streets and hot weather.

Pell fina Thin skin
Manel Bargalló
10/08/2010
The Catalans have a thin skin. We do not know how to discuss between us without arriving to thrown it all by our heads. I suppose this is the Latin cultural heritage and also the Arab culture. Will always remember how one day listening the raido, an Arab world expert journalist, explained that a recall a Hamas leader was doing, where seems the expressions he was telling shows that would be impossible to have a deal with Israelians, there were possibilities of finding a final peace. The journalist said that the Arabs are very exagerated and passionate when they discuss in public. We as westerners we do not know how to read the great grandiloquent expressions with underqualifications and warnings, the tones that shows the messages favouring the negociations.
I think that the Catalans we are close to fall down in the exageration and passion when we discuss, similar to the feeling at the other side of the Mediterranean. We do that with football and with politics. Moreover with the independent politics.
I write a couple of articles in my personal blog about the leadership we the Catalans need to become free. I recall the need of being honest and faithful, but also think about our history and natural environment which surely affects the way we are.
But independently of leaderships, I think that us, the ones who are normal people, who follow the politic not but political ambitions, if not cause we wish to help to our nation to become free and independent, should prepare and autocontrol exercise in order to avoid to fall into the passion and overconsideration as we do with the football. We can not fall into the trap of attacking ourselves until the point that grows among us a refuse feeling more by personal questions linked to some colors, than rationals. A non rational refuse that to many cause a contradiction of being able to see how the political oponent looses even that this fact comes against the mutual objective required but the independence of Catalonia.
Lògicament no estic parlant d’insults o desqualificacions personals.
Neither means that we can not critisize positively to the considered political oponents but follow the same objectives as us. I think the constructive critic is not bad and supposed to be accepted by anyone. The critic serves to improve and the fact suppose to be accepted as a favor. Logically do not talk about bad words or personal desqualifications.
We can not achieve the unity if every group is locked and does not accept the other critics. Even less when this critic or critical reply, is out of sense or only based in our emotional feelings versus the leadership of any o the groups or political parties. There is no sense that us, the ones who do not really care who will achieve the independence but we wish to achieve it finally, take one or another option till the corner of feeling personally attacked when someone critisize it. We should listen and read positively this critical in order to improve our understanding.
The ones who have no personal interest with the independent movement, even by vanity of being the heroe or by political ambitions, should look to have a cold head and not fall into the emotional land. We should not have a thin skin and feel attacked by the first different idea we listen. In order not to forget that these ones who becomes leaders, providing speeches and even seems very passionate when they defend their points in their own parties and groups, all them have the dead skin. It it well dead, otherwise they would never become leaders.

Pell fina Thin skin

Vaixell enfonsat / Sunk boat
Few days talking about it, and many destinations will talk about it too, one of the Ha Long Bay boats sunk and brought several visitors under water, several nationalities. Now your fault, my fault and over...but the company in charge had previous incidents, then a recommendation, travel fully insured with the serious companies, full warranty.

Aquest any he gaudit com mai l'any nou lunar de Hanoi.
This year I enjoyed like never the new lunar new year in Hanoi. The fresh breeze, not cold, the trees leaves falling down meanwhile we were dining on the street, the buffaloes waiting around near eighty floors buildings, the well-dressed people everywhere, the five generations family at the table enjoying food and drink as usual, the gourgeous northern Vietnamese girls in stockings and without helmet in order not to destroy the hair-dresser time for new year...I nearly forgot the pleasure of riding on two wheels without helmet, sometimes at 20 quilometers per hour, but we do not need to say so.

Lo Barca continua batent records / Barca keeps breaking records
The Barca continues breaking, seven points advantage at Feb 2011, with Messi like a lion and breaking the schemes, destroying ancien Madrid victory records, winning at futsal the first imporant cup, and with Pique tweeting pictures with Shakira....Pep Guardiola is leading.
I trenca l'Alves, lo Puyol i sa xicota, lo Iniesta, lo Xavi, lo Pedro, lo Busquets, lo Bojan, lo Valdes i companyia....anys de gloria pels cules.
And breaks it out Alves, Puyol and his girlfriend, Iniesta, Xavi, Pedro, Busquets, Bojan, Valdes and company...glory days for the "cules".

Arriba l'any del gat / Year of the cat arrives
And flowers are showing up, the cat cartoons and other paraphernalia that welcomes the year of the cat, following the lunar new year. First year in history when I can enjoy 10 days of holidays for a New Year's celebration, it never happens to me and will try to enjoy the maximum day by day, without standing by, without customers....with great feelings.
Bon nombre de catalans arribats a Vietnam desde principis de gener, tots ells gaudint un munt i portant paraules catalanes cap als caracters vietnamites, fuets amb pebre i altres moltes coses.
Good number of Catalans coming to Vietnam since beginning of January, all them enjoying a lot and bringing Catalan words to the Vietnamese characters, pepper dry sausages and many other issues.

Catalunya, un nou estat europeu / Catalonia, a new European state
By Joan Puigcercós on Thu, 21/10/2010 - 20:37
Twenty-four years after joining the European Union (EU), the EU still does not officially recognise our language, the Catalan language. Spain and its representatives have made all kinds of efforts to avoid this recognition during all these years. They do not care, and are not at all bothered that Gaelic, which is spoken by some 70,000 people, is already an official EU language. They do not want to see the Catalan language reach this status, though it is spoken by more than 9 million European citizens. Catalan is the 8th most spoken language in the EU, with a demographic and cultural strength far superior to many official languages in Europe. Recognising the Catalan language’s official status would mean recognising that the Spanish State is a plural reality with several languages. And one of them, the second in demographic weight and also in terms of vitality, is Catalan. However, despite this, it is underestimated.
Despite this severe lack of recognition by Europe regarding our national identity, Catalans have a deep pro-European feeling. We have always been enthusiastic participants of the European construction process. We are so participative and enthusiastic that we want to contribute to it directly, firsthand. Europe’s future is not only going through an external enlargement (Croatia, Serbia, Iceland, Turkey, etc.), but it is also experiencing an internal enlargement (Scotland, Flanders, Catalonia, etc.). Catalans, as the Scots or the Flemish, want to able to become, when our citizenry expresses so in a democratic and pacific way, a new European Union Member State.
From Barcelona, from Catalonia and from the Catalan Countries, we have always seen Europe as a space for convergence, for political and economic unity, a common space for participation. From Madrid and from Spain, they have always seen Europe as a source of funding. It must be mentioned that they have been incapable of fostering a harmonic development, as the current economic crisis has shown. The crisis is affecting the Spanish State more harshly than all of its European neighbours.
The Spanish State is thought of from Madrid and for Madrid’s benefit, with radial infrastructures that make everything go through Madrid. This has turned Madrid into a great capital of the financial and speculative economy, which is opposite from the Catalan Countries’ Mediterranean axe (Catalonia, València and the Balearic Islands). This axe drives the industrial and productive economy of the Spanish State. The Madrid-Seville axe has been united by high-speed trains for almost 20 years now while the Barcelona-València connection, the main freight corridor of the Southern Mediterranean, remains to be constructed.
Having our own state within the European and world concert is the only way of being identified and treated as we are: a nation. Because nowadays, despite being a nation, we do not have our own state that may project us into the world. We are still an unknown people. This is despite the fact that our capital, Barcelona, is one of the most dynamic and prosperous cities of Europe and the entire Mediterranean Sea.
And it is so despite the economic plundering that Catalonia suffers from the Spanish State, which has been calculated to more than 10% of our GDP. It is an unsustainable situation that puts our economy and citizens’ welfare in jeopardy.

Tomorrow night Catalonia will play vs Honduras, team which participated in last South African world cup.

Fortes pluges a Hanoi / Strong rain in Hanoi
By the latest news seems than Hanoi is suffering, a meter of water in main roads like Ly Thuong Kiet is not easy to imagine.

On the other hand, the cruises by the Red river are getting on the mood, we will need to try them when the heat comes down. A visit to the capital is always a good thing to do.
We visited last Saturday the Ho Chi Minh City beach, around an hour drive you have the monkey island, the crocodriles and mangrooves where the Vietnamese guerrilla was hidden while defending from diverse invaders, we kick all them out, do not forget that.

The beach is a bit muddy, there are rivers near, but you can see the crabs and the people enjoying a lot. All us enjoy a lot, to keep relationship internationally means you go with Singaporian, with Indian people, with Vietnamese with North American ancestors...and that, to be honest, makes you see the world in another way and enrich you much more.
Sitting to enjoy a Vietnamese coffee in the typical parades, with the typical newspapers, with the typical coffees, typical chairs...makes you smell the rural life, similar to Prades in Catalonia, with only five hundred inhabitants....I miss Grandpa and Grandma, now in better life, and the smell of young grass, chessnuts and bloody knees....

Only a note to leave written that the 129th Catalan president had been nominated for the next 4 years if nothing happens.
As I do not like politics we leave it like this, no further comments. Wait and see to evaluate.

La mare a Vietnam / Mum in Vietnam
The last two and a half weeks we had the pleasure of receiving Mum here in Vietnam for the very first time, hope will not be the last cause we all enjoyed a lot. Jordi Nam and Raquel Anh do not want you to go, today you have the flight to this frozen Europe, and they say that you must pick up the dog in Girona and come back here.
We had been in Ho Chi Minh City, by bike, taxi, bus and over, to the north to Hanoi and visit Halong bay by boat, caves included, and also two and a half days in Phu Quoc island, where we had been really well. Swimming pool whole day, jacuzzi, beach and over, meanwhile in Prades, uncle Joan said you have six degrees at noon, my skin gets erected.
Just blog it for the posterior record and wish the best for all the ones who are planning to come to enjoy the country and all it has to offer to you.

Catalunya independent? / Independent Catalonia?
Since many years is a question which turns around, some supports to it, others refuse it, but basically there is someone who understand the positive/negative of the situation.
Ningu esta content pagant mes, pagant sobretaxes sense rebre gaire a canvi.
No-one is happy paying more, being overtaxed without receiving much.
I continue exposing the questions to you, reader and blog follower, you should evaluate and make your own decisions, this is your turn.
Rumia i decideix / Think and decide

Eleccions, catalans a Vietnam / Elections, Catalans in Vietnam
As promised, last Sunday were the Catalan elections with government changes. Hope the politic games do finsih and starting to do the things a bit as supposed to be.
Today itself, it is organized the first Catalans in Vietnam meeting. After the party and meeting with the rest of community, today will sit to try the Catalan specialties.
Mum arrives in three days to see how all this Vietnam is going.
Masses raons per tornar a publicar, i espero continuar tot sovint per a tothom.
Too many reasons to re-start publishing, and hope to continue often for everyone.
Thank you Tiffany for the power and contact, the pics you sent me illustrate today's post, Aloha.
